Late last year it was revealed that Lindsay Lohan, who was undergoing court-appointed treatment for substance abuse issues at the Betty Ford Clinic at the time, was released from her highly-anticipated role in the forthcoming biopic about porn star Linda Lovelace.
She was soon replaced by “Watchman” starlet Malin Akerman. And while Akerman is excited to start production in March, she admitted that taking over from Lohan amid the controversial circumstances wasn’t easy.
“Of course (it was so awkward) but it will be a wonderful journey,” she told FOX411’s Pop Tarts at the BVLGARI Fundraiser Benefitting Save the Children & APJ on Thursday evening. “Her life was really incredible; she (Lovelace) was a survivor. Unfortunately she’s not with us anymore, but her life was really incredible and I am excited for that to come out.”
But porn star films aside, the 32-year-old is also very passionate about the issue of education and hopes that, even in spite of all that needs to be improved, Americans appreciate the system we’ve already built.
“Everyone is allowed to complain for a minute no matter what your situation is. We all have our complaints in our own terms, but you have to look at big picture, and say thank you,” Akerman added. “But we are so lucky here in America. We still have a lot of work to do on our own educational system but the whole world needs help, so anything we can do (to help others) is great.”
Tonight, Malin Akerman is in attendance at the Bvlgari Private Event in Los Angeles which is benefiting the organizations Save The Children and Artists For Peace & Justice. I have just added the first photos from the event, 44 in total, into our photo gallery!

There is now a trailer for “Happythankyoumoreplease” released – you can watch it below! The movie will be released in theaters on February 18th.
Six New Yorkers juggle love, friendship, and the keenly challenging specter of adulthood. Sam Wexler is a struggling writer who’s having a particularly bad day. When a young boy gets separated from his family on the subway, Sam makes the questionable decision to bring the child back to his apartment and thus begins a rewarding, yet complicated, friendship. Sam’s life revolves around his friends-Annie, whose self-image keeps her from commitment; Charlie and Mary Catherine, a couple whose possible move to Los Angeles tests their relationship; and Mississippi, a cabaret singer who catches Sam’s eye.
As you may have heard, Lindsay Lohan is no longer doing porn.
But not to worry, because Malin Akerman is filling her Deep Throat shoes. The Watchmen bombshell is set to star in Inferno, a film about ’70s porn star Linda Lovelace. LiLo was originally supposed to play Lovelace, but was ousted in November.
Now, for the first time since being cast, Akerman is talking about the racy role…
“I’m just trying to do all my research and really get the character right,” Akerman told reporters at the People’s Choice Awards. “I’m reading her book and I’m reading any kind of information that I can get my hands on.” Lovelace died in 2002 at age 53 from injuries she suffered in a car accident.
Has she watched any of Lovelace’s adult fare?
“Not yet,” the 32-year-old laughed when asked if she’s ever seen one of Lovelace’s adult films.
So just how raunchy will Akerman get in the flick? “You’ll just have to wait and see,” she teased with a smile.
Earlier today, Malin Akerman was photographed at the Turner TCA event and panel in Los Angeles. I have just added 21 photos from both events into the photo gallery!

Last night was the 2011 People’s Choice Awards in Los Angeles and as we reported earlier, Malin Akerman was in attendance and presented an award with “True Blood” actor Stephen Moyer. Malin looked amazing in an above the knee length white J.
