With all the excitement surrounding the various comic book movies these days, the casting rumor mill has seemingly been churning out new names by the hour — particularly with Warner Bros. heavily-hyped “Superman” reboot and “The Dark Knight Rises.”
With regard to “The Dark Knight Rises,” we’ve been hearing more about actors rumored to be joining the cast rather than actresses — aside from Anne Hathaway landing the role of Selina Kyle, of course. Still, with director Christopher Nolan reportedly saying there’s another female role in “Dark Knight Rises” up for grabs, MTV News caught up with one of the actresses on the rumored contender list, Kate Mara, to find out if she’s seen a “Dark Knight Rises” script.
Um, I…unfortunately I never did get to see any sort of script,” Mara said during the press day for her upcoming film “happythankyoumoreplease.”
“So I wouldn’t be able to tell you a thing. And I wouldn’t even be able to tell you anything about anything about it,” she added. “So uh… super boring [answer] on that topic.”
Fair enough, we know that all parties involved or even potentially involved in the super-secret world of superhero films are sworn to secrecy. Still, we pressed on… and asked Mara and her “happythankyoumoreplease” co-star Malin Akerman if they’d be game for a role in Snyder’s as-yet-untitled “Superman” reboot, since the leading ladies in that film have yet to be cast.
“Do it! Put me in it!” Mara said excitedly.
“Put us in!” Ackerman agreed.
“You know, I think there’s a lot of rumors going around about a lot of different things and you look on the internet and go, ‘Oh really?! I’m in that?’” she said. “Or, ‘Attached to that? Cool. Great. I hope my agent calls me and lets me know,’ I think there’s a lot of rumors going around. I’d jump at the chance to work with Zack again, but… you know. We’ll see what happens.”
Mara, who confessed she reads “all” the rumors, would also be totally on-board for a role in the “Superman” reboot.
“I love superhero movies too,” she said. “I’m sort of obsessed.”
“They’re fun,” Akerman added, citing her time in “Watchmen.” “You get to fight crime. I mean I don’t have these muscles for nothing. You know what I mean?”
The upcoming biopic “Inferno: A Linda Lovelace Story” might be about one of the porn industry’s most famous stars, but Malin Akerman said there won’t be any “gratutious” sex in the upcoming film.
The 32-year-old actress stopped by Access Hollywood Live on Tuesday and revealed how far she’ll go in the role that Lindsay Lohan was once set to play.
“I’ll go as far, as long as it’s not gratuitous, if it makes sense for the story,” she told Billy Bush and Kit Hoover. “It’s a lot more about her, she had a very tortuous life. It’s a lot more behind the scenes of her and her husband’s relationship.”
Malin said the story would focus more on the adult actress’ adversities and not about her risqué profession.
“There will be some disturbing moments, but it won’t be very sexual. It will be more disturbing than anything,” she explained.
When it comes to stepping in for Lindsay in the film, Malin told Billy and Kit that she’s had no contact with Lindsay, who was forced to drop out of the project after being sent to rehab.
“I don’t know her personally at all. I hadn’t met her before, so no contact with her,” Malin said. “I think we’re very different people… again, I don’t know her… I’m not really out much in the public eye, other than when I’m here with you guys or, you know, doing a movie.”
For her current movie, “Happythankyoumoreplease,” the actress plays a woman suffering from Alopecia universalis (a condition that causes hair loss), something Malin deeply committed to making authentic by shaving off her eyebrows.
“They’re back!” she said of her formerly buzzed brows. “Actually it’s really great trick for any woman for wants to look like five years younger, shave them off! All of a sudden, you just look fresh… at least that’s what my husband told me.
“I wasn’t brave enough to shave my whole head,” she continued. “[I was] a little nervous, a little nervous, the buzzer of the shaver went on, and I said, ‘Alright, we’re doing this!’”
Having no eyebrows lead the actress to a peculiar discovery.
“It’s amazing because you get in the shower and you realize that you need your eyebrows for the water to not leak into your eyeballs,” she added.
“Happythankyoumoreplease” written, directed and co-starring “How I Met Your Mother’s” Josh Radnor, hits theaters on March 4.
Last night, Malin Akerman was in attendance at the Vanity Fair Campaign Hollywood 2011 – Chrysler Celebrates “The Fighter” that was held in Los Angeles. I have just added 45 HQ and MQ photos from the event into the photo gallery!

Malin Akerman is scheduled to be a guest on “The Late Late Show With Craig Ferguson” tomorrow, February 22nd! The show airs on the CBS network at about midnight, but make sure you check your local TV listings for exact air times in your area.
Malin Akerman says it is time to get ambitious and tell the sad, sordid story of porn star Linda Lovelace.
“I think it is time to step up,” Akerman tells QMI Agency about her more relaxed career path so far, in contrast to the burden that will be shooting Matthew Wilder’s Inferno: A Linda Lovelace Story. “It is an amazing opportunity and such a big challenge. Any time you’re scared of something, then I think you should do it. And that is exactly my feeling with this: I’m terrified, in an exhilarating kind of way!”
Akerman is the 32-year-old Swedish-Canadian singer and actress from films as varied as Watchmen and The Romantics. Now based in Los Angeles and married to Italian-born musician Roberto Zincone, Akerman is often part of ensembles, as she is both of those films. But Inferno will depend almost entirely on how she performs in the lead.
Akerman, a feisty blond who says she has no problems with nudity in good films, stepped into the Linda Lovelace role after human train wreck Lindsay Lohan exited.
Inferno will delve in the tragedy that was Linda Susan Boreman’s life as her infamous alter ego, Linda Lovelace. Deep Throat is the most influential porn of all time and helped kick-start a sexual revolution. But, behind the scenes, her husband and manager Chuck Traynor beat her senseless, pimped her in a prostitution ring and forced her into degrading porns. Among them was Deep Throat. Even worse was a bestiality film.
Boreman-Lovelace, who died in 2002, became a symbol of the anti-pornography movement after Deep Throat established itself as a sleazy legend. But many of her allegations were contradictory and sometimes refuted. Nevertheless, the accusations of savage violence by Traynor have been substantiated. Akerman says that Inferno will not be an exploitation film and will emphasize the human drama over the sensational sex.
“You might think twice about watching Deep Throat again,” Akerman advises. “But it’s important to tell some of these stories and see the truth of someone who is — or was — in the public eye. And to know the reality behind it, or at least our version of the reality, what the writer has interpreted. So I think we should do it.”
Inferno is scheduled to start shooting in early April in Los Angeles. Other cast members include Paz de la Huerta and Harold Perrineau, the latter playing Sammy Davis Jr.
