ComingSoon.net talked exclusively to Carla Gugino, Malin Akerman and Emmanuelle Chriqui about starring in writer/director Sebastian Gutierrez’s Elektra Luxx, opening in theaters on March 11.

In the film, recently retired adult film superstar Elektra Luxx (Gugino) is pregnant with the child of late rock star Nick Chapel. She is trying to make ends meet by teaching a community college sex education class aimed at housewives when a figure from her past, flight attendant Cora (Marley Shelton), approaches her with a proposition. In exchange for the (stolen) lyrics to Nick Chapel’s last record, all of which is about Elektra, Cora needs Elektra to seduce her fiancee. Elektra reluctantly agrees to do this favor, setting in motion a series of hilarious events which will see her come face to face with detectives, sex bloggers, emotionally unstable neighbors and the Virgin Mary herself as she wrestles with the prospect of motherhood and tries to become a person of substance.

Posted in News, Wildwood Inn

Bleeding Cool has confirmed with the film’s producers that Jim Sturgess and Malin Akerman are attached to star in Wildwood Inn, the directorial debut of actor Christopher McDonald.

You’ll most likely know McDonald from Requiem For a Dream, Sturgess starred (and was superb) in Julie Taymor’s Across the Universe, and Akerman was in Watchmen. Two out of three ‘aint bad.

The script for Wildwood Inn was written by Jon & Lisa Vandergriff. Here’s its logline: “When two young couples dissatisfied with their marriages discover they both stay in the same mountain cabin each year, at alternate times, they begin to explore relationships outside of their marriage via the cabin’s welcome journal.”

So, it’s a bit like The Lake House but without the supernatural goings on? Sure sounds like it.

Lots about the film is still under wraps, including the names of the two other leads.

UPDATE: Jim Sturgess’ reps have told us that he is not attached to the project, despite the film’s producers yesterday telling me – plain and simply – that he is “attached”. Something somewhere has gotten lost in translation, but I can assure you it wasn’t at Bleeding Cool’s end of the line.

So, to clarify: The producers say Jim is attached; his publicity representative says that he is not.

Inferno, the biopic of ’70s porn icon Linda Lovelace (the star of Deep Throat), has been in the works for some time from writer/director Matthew Wilder (adapting the actress’ autobiography, “Ordeal”). Malin Akerman (Watchmen, 27 Dresses is slated to play the lead and, today, spoke exclusively with ComingSoon.net about the part.

“It’s a really dark place,” explains Akerman of the film’s tone, “It’s not so much about the sexual content… Ultimately, the story is the backstory that takes place over four or five years about her and her husband. She was a battered woman… It’s about how she got forced at gunpoint into prostitution by her own husband.”

Akerman, who next appears in the Women in Trouble sequel Elektra Luxx, is the third actress to become attached to the project after Anna Faris and Lindsay Lohan (the latter of whom was even featured in promotional images last year). Signing on last November, Akerman is gung ho for the project and is currently prepping for the role.

“I’ve been doing a lot of research on battered women and why they stay in those kinds of relationships,” she says, “It’ll be a dark journey, but I’m very excited.”

Wilder will make Inferno his sophomore directing project, following 2008′s Your Name Here, a fictional story inspired by the life of Philip K. Dick.
