The biopic “Inferno: A Linda Lovelace Story” has been in and out of pre-production for awhile, mainly having to do with the casting choice of a wayward young actress. Those troubles quickly disappeared the minute they chose Malin Akerman to play the adult film star turned anti-porn advocate in the Matthew Wilder feature.
In the middle of an interview for her upcoming film “Happythankyoumoreplease,” the actress was kind enough to give us a better look on the overall story line for the project.
“I’m very excited to start filming ["Inferno: A Linda Lovelace Story"]. As of right now we’re supposed to be shooting in April.
“The movie is sort of behind-the-scenes on her life with her husband and what the relationship was like. It was pretty torturous, he physically beat her quite a bit and had a gun to her head many times and forced her into prostitution.
“It’s a very emotional journey with the film being very much a biography of her life, or an interpretation of it. We go maybe four years of her life until she becomes an anti-porn advocate. So it’s a really intense and dark movie, for me anyways. It’s a very exciting and nerve-wracking challenge.”
You can watch Malin Akerman shine on the big screen in Josh Radnor’s “Happythankyoumoreplease,” out in limited theaters this Friday.
Malin Akerman is in negotiations to play the female lead opposite Nicolas Cage in Medallion, a Nu Image/Millennium Films action thriller directed by Simon West.
The story, with shades of Taken, follows a father — a former master thief — who has only a few hours to find his daughter when she is kidnapped and locked in the trunk of a New York medallion taxi cab.
Akerman will play Cage’s former girlfriend and former bank robber who agrees to help him save his daughter.
David Guggenheim wrote the script. Matthew Joynes and Jesse Kennedy of Aurelius are producing as is McG via Wonderland Sound and Vision. James Holt (Men Who Stare at Goats) is also producing.
Avi Lerner, Danny Dimbort, Trevor Short and Cassian Elwes are exec producing. Wonderland’s Mary Viola is also exec producing.
The movie will shoot in New Orleans starting in mid-March.
Akerman’s recent credits include Watchmen and Couples Retreat, and she is one of the stars of Josh Radnor’s feature directorial debut, HappyThankYouMorePlease, which opens in March. She is repped by WME and Sanders Armstrong Caserta Management.

Why Malin Akerman Is No.39
Though most people pretend to take pleasure in watching Lindsay Lohan self-destruct, deep down we’re all a little sad about the very public demise of America’s would-be sweetheart. We’re not sure if we can say the same thing for Malin Akerman, the fresh-faced Toronto-bred actress who will be replacing Lohan in Inferno, the long-gestating Linda Lovelace biopic. Akerman’s previous film credits include The Heartbreak Kid, Watchmen, The Proposal, and Couples Retreat. These are mostly vanilla compared to what we can expect from Inferno, about the drug-addled Deep Throat star whose husband forced her (allegedly at gunpoint) into a porn career. The question now becomes “Is Malin Akerman a method actress?” and if so, does she need someone to help her bone up for the role?
Just something through the grapevine for now, but word is that the Watchmen star might be in the running, or at least auditioning for the role of Lois Lane in Zack Snyder’s Superman reboot…
You knew it was gonna happen! Superman is cast so we move on to Lois. Expect many casting rumors over the next while, here is the first of em.
Word is that Malin Akerman (Silk Spectre in Watchmen) may be “connected” to the role. The origin of the rumor seems to be hard to pinpoint at the moment but I managed to get a quote from a PR agency who say..
Something a client heard on the grapevine. Could just mean she auditioned. Not surprising, she was in Watchmen.
